First off this is for a 2001 Chevy S10 4.3L. Im sure this can be applied to all kinds of vehicles.
1) Remove the stock airbox from truck: •Top section-stock •Bottom section-stock 2) There are a bunch of checker grids(see above pic) in the top lid that needs to be smoothed down. a)I first used a cutting plier to get most of the stuff out: b)Then I used a dremel tool to get everything as smooth as possible. You can see the completed top section below: 3) Now with the bottom section. Use the dremmel and cut the left side section out. If you like you can also cutout the front wall or even all walls, though I think its best if you leave the walls toward the engine itself intact: 4) Next is to put everything back together, drop in a K&N Filter element #33-2042 and youre good to go! Did some driving and this thing sounds exactly like I put on a cone filter. As for performance I cant tell if it improved or not. -------------------- ![]() Hoku: Lian Li PC60 case; Antec TruePower 550; Abit IC7-G; 2.4C @ 3.0GHZ w/5:4 divider; Mushkin 256MB PC3500 Level II(x2)@ 2-2-2-5;Leadtek A250/ti4400 @303Core/654Memmory; Audigy Platinum; WD Raptor Dragon: Antec SLK3700AMB Case; Antec SmartPower 350; Soyo P4X400 DRAGON Ultra Platinum; P4 2.53GHZ; Corsair 512MB PC3200C2PT; ATI Radeon 7000; Audigy 2; LEADTEK TV2000XP; WD800JB(x2) in RAID 0 Both on: Envision 985e 19" CRT; Logitech Z680; IOGEAR MiniView Micro 2 KVM Switch ![]() |
