First off this is for a 2001 Chevy S10 4.3L. Im sure this can be applied to all kinds of vehicles.

1) Remove the stock airbox from truck:
•Top section-stock

2) There are a bunch of checker grids(see above pic) in the top lid that needs to be smoothed down.
a)I first used a cutting plier to get most of the stuff out:

b)Then I used a dremel tool to get everything as smooth as possible. You can see the completed top section below:

3) Now with the bottom section. Use the dremmel and cut the left side section out.

If you like you can also cutout the front wall or even all walls, though I think its best if you leave the walls toward the engine itself intact:

4) Next is to put everything back together, drop in a K&N Filter element #33-2042 and youre good to go! Did some driving and this thing sounds exactly like I put on a cone filter. As for performance I cant tell if it improved or not.
